Strange home break in....looking for opinions? - antique ceiling fans

This happened a few years ago and I always thought I wanted to find ideas for the prosecution.

We were closed out of town for a week, all the doors, set timers for lights, we have done everything possible for reasons of security. Find open Returning home after the holidays, the garage door to the left of chance into the house lights, ceiling fans running, and most of these weird old rocking chair that we had at the corner of our basement midding into the room opposite the windows in the basement of the picture drawn (overlooking the golf course) as someone who sat there enjoying the view.

Nothing was missing from the house, or seemed to change that, in addition to these things. The police came and all I could say was that it scratches, on a ring in the garage door handle and none of us wear a ring.

Law enforcement authorities, you must do so before, and if so see what happened? Other opinions?
